About The Marshall Plan Advisors, LLC (MPAI)
MPAI’s guiding principles of integrity, proactive service, and fee-based asset
management underscore its goal: providing personalized investment services that
meet the individual needs of each client, which is not driven by commission or
other incentives. Consistent with this goal, MPAI relies on dedication to continued
learning, researching, and teaching to enhance understanding of market activity.
MPAI has built and continues to build its select client base thoughtfully, in
the interest of meeting each individual client's goals, income needs, and risk
tolerance. MPAI’s account managers require as much time for new clients as existing
clients, and therefore MPAI has historically only accepted a limited number of
new clients who value our established style of personalized portfolio management
and meet a minimum portfolio size criterion. For more information about asset
size minimums, visit the Becoming a Client page.

In 1976, Dr. Salkin formed the investment advisory firm Mathematical Investing
Systems, Inc. (MIS). Through MIS, Dr. Salkin managed a limited number of individual
accounts via referrals. In 1986, he created a family of no-load mutual funds,
MIM Mutual Funds, Inc., which was managed by MIS. An affiliate of Provident Bank
acquired MIS in 1995, at which time Dr. Salkin founded the investment advisory
firm MPAI which drew its first clients from existing MIS clients, and from referrals,
who were looking for more than the impersonal attention of a large mutual fund.
Dr. Salkin also held a seat on the Board of Trustees of Provident Bank Funds from
1995 through 2004, at which time National City Bank acquired Provident Bank, and
Provident Funds merged into their funds.
Dr. Salkin has made regular speaking and media appearances, including the weekly
nationally syndicated radio report Money Pro News and his radio show Dollars and
Sense on WERE, Cleveland. His education includes a Bachelor of Science in Industrial
Engineering from Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute in 1967, a Masters in Operations
Research from Cornell University in 1968, and a Doctorate in Operations Research
and Statistics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1969. He has authored
one pioneering book in mathematical optimization, coauthored two others, co-edited
another volume, and written several articles. Dr. Salkin moved to Shaker Heights,
Ohio in August 1970 where he still resides.
